Leather Lingerie: The Truth About It |

 It is funny, but I have never thought that leather could be a material for lingerie. I have always associated leather with shoes, particularly the cowboy shoes; the horse saddle, a belt and many more. You could even say that I have associated it with perhaps all types of clothing except for lingerie. Maybe this is because I have been accustomed to associate underwear with their most popular types of materials, like silk or cotton. Perhaps I could just blame this on human nature; the initial disbelief and skepticism on something that veers from the ordinary and from what has already been known. This type of lingerie, then, was somehow a very unusual concept to me.
As skeptical as I was at first on the merits of this material type of lingerie, I have come to appreciate it through stories I have heard and articles I have read about it. I now view the leather lingerie as a form of self- expression; a way to manifest instincts that have always been natural to us. I believe that this type of lingerie can manifest our
primal instincts.
Self-expression is not only an encouraged practice; it is also a crucial one. Without a form of self-expression, we would not be able to manifest whatever suppressed emotion or instinct we have inside. We would not be able to communicate how we feel; thus, we would never promote understanding for ourselves. There are many forms of self-expression that we normally observe in our society; there is the most commonly practiced one, the act of speaking or writing, and then there are the unconventional ones through art and other forms of manifestations. In an intimate setting such as the bedroom, self-expression can also be practiced. It can be an expression of your most primal instincts, through this underwear that is made of lingerie.
My initial disinclination for leather lingerie had something to do with the thought that it might be uncomfortable and itchy to the skin. I have learned, though, that this was a vast misconception. In fact, in our history, people have used it to protect their skin from harmful elements. Today it can still be considered as ones second skin. This type of clothing is far from being itchy, for the one used by most leather manufacturers is the soft leather. It has been reported, in fact, that when you slip this lingerie material on, it feels cool to the skin. Its other advantage is not that it can last very long without having the look of being worn often, nor does it tear easily. This is what leather offers.
Whenever we see history movies of men before civilization, leather always plays a role in their clothing or in other uses. Perhaps this is the reason why the lingerie made from it can be associated with bringing out a persons primal instincts. I find also now find it appropriate for the intimate setting, because intimacy is something that should be uninhibited and give-all. It can portray this very message of a lack of inhibition.
You may have doubts about the leather lingerie now, but mind you, those doubts probably revolve around misconceptions.
